I. Mechanics Test Center

Guided by the principle of talent cultivation, corporate services, university-enterprise cooperation and shared benefits, Mechanics Test Center aims at advanced mechanics and applied technological innovation (mainly in key technologies composed of new offshore equipment mechanics and marine new energy). The center is equipped with a total of 29 sets of apparatuses. It could undertake experiments including fatigue and fracture of ships and marine structures, structure monitoring, hydrodynamics of ships and marine engineering, offshore new energy utilization technology, structural vibration and noise control, fluid dynamics computation, structural (equipment) shock resistance. It could carry out researches on hydrodynamic characteristics of vehicles in waves as well as composite material in its function, structure, design, and molding. The center is open and shared by faculty and students of Yantai Research Institute as well as Yantai enterprises, supporting Yantai Research Institute in professional masters cultivation while sustaining innovation and development for Yantai enterprises.

II. Laboratory on Marine New Energy Development and Utilization

This laboratory mainly conducts experiments on marine energy devices and structural vibration shock, including those on swinging hydrofoil energy capture device, lifting resistance composite vertical axis wind turbine device, vertical inertial wave energy power generation device, nano-scale solid-liquid friction, structural water impact and structural collision. The laboratory has a six-degree-of-freedom platform, a 1KW vertical axis wind turbine, an 80W inertial wave energy device, a 20W swing hydrofoil energy capture device, a friction nanofilm, a water inlet and crash test model and corresponding measuring instruments.

III. Laboratory on Marine Machinery and Equipment Innovation Design

Keep both scientific research and teaching as main missions, this laboratory focused on technological research and equipment development in key areas like underwater production, underwater maintenance equipment and underwater operation robots. It could carry out the research, development and function test on equipment designed for underwater production system, depending on various research and testing equipment from testing hydraulic sources, SCM testing benches, SCM installation and retrieving tools, electronic testing units, signal generation devices, particle detectors to optical attenuators.
