I. the R&D Center of Advanced Optical Fiber Sensing Technology
This laboratory is set up mainly to carry out researches in optical fiber sensing and optical measurement, and has partnered with related enterprises to co-work in fiber optics application scenarios such as marine, ship, hydraulic engineering, and power grid. The laboratory could conduct experiment on forward-looking and major basically scientific, and key core technology research such as optical fiber and optical fiber sensor preparation, optical fiber sensor device characterization testing, optical fiber sensor package development, optical fiber material device performance evaluation in extreme environments, optical magnetic sensing and its application, and development of optical fiber of high-speed spectrum.
II. Artificial Intelligence Training Laboratory
This laboratory is oriented as a researching hub for big data and intelligent application to provide services for offshore engineering, smart city, smart energy, agriculture (marine fishery) and other industries. Backed by Yantai Research Institute of Harbin Engineering University, it has cooperated with related enterprises to implement talent training and basic research on intelligent marine equipment, unmanned vehicle, intelligent processing of infrared and remote sensing image, industrial Internet and digitalization and big data analysis. Depending on technology accumulation in computer vision, machine learning and digital twins, the laboratory could can carry out AI+ comprehensive experimental training sponsored by high-performance AI deep learning GPU workstations.
III. Joint Research and Testing Laboratory for Intelligent Chips in Marine Environmental Perception
Backed by existing professional and technological edge from Yantai Research Institute, this laboratory aims to make major breakthroughs in intelligent sensing and information urgently needed in current marine economic structure of Yantai, by carrying out incremental technology research to better serve the development of modern marine economy. The laboratory will carry out research in intelligent offshore equipment technology, intelligent sensor technology, marine anti-corrosion technology, offshore photovoltaic and new energy equipment, in a bid to break bottleneck problems in key technologies that restricts the development of sensors in China. The laboratory will strive to help incubate a number of professional intelligent sensor companies to achieve leapfrog development for domestic intelligent sensors.
IV. Technology Center for Underwater Wireless Power Transfer
This laboratory is engaged in application of basic theory, technology development and promotion related to wireless power transfer technology. The laboratory has platforms for various wireless power transmission technology, magnetic material development and power electronic system design experiments. It could carry out researches on packaging materials and processes for underwater wireless power transmission systems, new magnetic materials and processes, and influence and mechanism of materials and processes on electrical, magnetic, thermal and other systems of coupled electromagnetic field wireless power transfer system.
V. Laboratory on Modern Marine Information Technology
The main research of this laboratory includes underwater electromagnetic communication, detecting and positioning technology, wireless communicating technology for oil wells, penetrating communicating technology for mine emergency, weak signal detecting technology, parallel combined spread spectrum communication technology, 5G baseband signal optimizing technology, spectrum perception technology, intelligent cluster technology, communication countermeasure technology, infrared image processing technology and self-organizing network technology. Simulative and digital communication circuit design, FPGA, ARM, DSP system development and application, software programming technology (C, C++, JAVA, etc.) and other specific technologies are mainly applied.
VI. Joint Laboratory for Smart Energy
This laboratory is a basic researching hub for power electronics and new energy that focuses on energy storage application technology, new energy grid planning and dispatching technology, underwater wireless power transmitting technology, power conversion technology for special loading vehicle and so on. The laboratory has high-power DC power supply, high-power electronic load, high-power transformer, high-performance oscilloscope, seawater tank, semi-physical simulation equipment, LCR bridge test instruments, signal generators and other experimental instruments. It can carry out various types of power electronic converter experiments with power below 500kW, underwater wireless power transmission experiments, new energy grid-connected experiments such as solar and wind energy, and shore power experiments for ships. Besides, it can cultivate senior technological personnel specialized in new energy power generation, power distribution, and power consumption.
VII.High performance Computing Service Center
As an indispensable underpinner to cultivate high-end talents and support state-of-the-art scientific research experiments, the SuperComputing Center of Yantai Research Institute serves as a significant computing hub for scientific research and is open for sharing. The SuperComputing Center is supported by an efficient heterogeneous high-performance computing platform composed of 30 computing nodes and 2 graphical processing nodes, along with a total of 2240 cores and 8 GPU processing boards. Users can get access to the center through campus network inside campus, or remotely through VPN.
The center can provide high-performance computing and application services for more than 350 days a year (7/24) for faculty, students and enterprises that have established cooperative ties. Moreover, it has been supporting and catalyzing the scientific research of Yantai Research Institute, and been providing high-quality services for high-level scientific research inside and outside campus.
