On May 11th to 24th, Yantai Research Institute held the second round of ‘Universiti Teknologi PETRONAS-Yantai Research Camp’. A delegation comprising 13 professors and students from Universiti Teknologi PETRONAS from Malaysia participated in the two-week long tour to Yantai.

Led by professors and volunteers, the delegation were brought up to speed with the history and current status of HEU and Yantai Research Institute, before they paid visits to Genghai No. 1 Farming Complex and the Yantai Characteristic Town of Industrial Design successively, where they had firsthand knowledge relative to current status and corporate culture in marine engineering and industrial design on-site.

We even held a tea party where our students introduced the traditional tea culture of China to the Malaysian delegation, and both sides had a heated discussion on traditional customs regarding foods and festivals. Bathing in the aroma of tea, we, along with our foreign visitors, tightened our friendship through this cross-cultural communication.

The remaining days accompanied by English lectures enlightened them with a deeper grasp of our advantageous majors and research orientations. Though a series exchanges and discussions on relative professional knowledge, we have laid a solid foundation for subsequent academic communication and expanding foreign enrollment between our two universities.

This event is our indispensable endeavor to help strengthen cooperation with ‘the Belt and Road Initiative’ countries and serve HEU’s globalization strategy as Yantai Research Institute tightened its binding with Universiti Teknologi PETRONAS through measures of erecting communicating platforms for Chinese and Malaysian students, and offering high-quality educational resources. That’s how we filled prominent Malaysian students in with our comprehensive layout pf discipline structures, a milestone in our effort to expand resources among Southeast Asian countries and carry out ultimate international cooperation. In the future, ‘Universiti Teknologi PETRONAS-Yantai Research Camp’ that brings along comprehensive communications and cooperation between the two universities will be our new normal and a distinctive activity with our own characteristics.
