To better promote digital transformation and intelligent upgrade of shipbuilding and ocean engineering industry, promote communication and cooperation among these disciplines, and set up a hub of high-level academic communication for experts and scholars from China and abroad, '2023 International Conference on Ships and Offshore Structures(ICSOS)' was held in Yantai from September 25 to 27. 150 experts and scholars from more than 10 countries and regions including China, Korea, England convened to celebrate this academic feast. Yantai Research Institute took an active part in its comprehensive organizing and implementation.
The previous conferences being held in Germany, Sweden, UK and US, this conference is the 8th. ICSOS has formed a relatively stable suite of participants composed of prominent experts and scholars from more than 20 countries and regions, acquiring favorable reputation and status in marine structures.
Participating representatives from governments and institutes delivered speeches pertaining the theme of the conference, conveying expectations that everyone could stay true to key areas and links on marine engineering industrial chain, promote scientific and technological evaluation, and commercialize scientific and technological achievements, thus improving the scientific literacy for the populace while cultivating and recommending top talents to expand international cooperation. Moreover, they hoped all parties could strive to promote upscale, intelligent and green development to form more pragmatic cooperation and strengthen new advantages in industrial development. With all those measures, we could achieve mutually beneficial development to boost marine scientific and technological innovation in Huang-Bohai Sea New Area, making it development highland with prominent blue growth drivers, distinctive characteristics and ecological protection as priority. We will further explore new paths and gather impetus for marine equipment industry clusters.
Upon witness eyes, 'the International Centre for Advanced Safety Studies' and 'the International Demonstration Base on Shandong Shipbuilding and Marine Equipment Technology' were unveiled in the conference. Relaying ceremony for ICSOS in 2024, which will be held in Chennai in India, was held short after.
Keynote speeches comprised 'Development and challenges of deep-sea submersibles' 'Storm-induced Coastal Hazards and their Impacts on the Coast of China' and 'Research on Resistance Prediction and Reduction Methods of Polar Ships'. Their speeches were brimming with Q&As, lively and warm.
2 sub-forums, where more than 60 scholars from global reputable universities, scientific research institutes and enterprises shared their own dedicated researches in frontiers of shipbuilding and marine engineering, came as the conference was brought down its curtain.
